Letter to the editor: No religious Christmas stamps available at the post office this year
A few days ago, my wife went to the post office to pick up some Christmas stamps. Much to her surprise and dismay, the postal man said there were no Christmas stamps available this year, to which my wife retorted, “You mean you don’t have any Christmas stamps showing Mary and the baby Jesus! Nothing about the traditional manger scene or the wise men coming from afar to worship the newborn Savior of the world?”
The postal man seemed equally disappointed and said, “I don’t understand it either. In all my years of working at the post office, this is the first time we’re not having Christmas stamps available, only secular designs this year.” So, she purchased the regular flag stamps.
When my wife told me what had happened, all I could say in expressing my profound disappointment was that this is another example of how any reference to Christianity and Christmas is being eliminated in the public square, and particularly the mention of the name Jesus. Without Jesus there could be no Christmas!
Folks, it’s time for the Christian community to wake up and lead the way in overturning the disastrous direction in which we are being deceptively led. The ballot box is our best chance to make changes. It’s past time for us and our elected representatives to restore sanity in our culture!
