Obituary: Robert J. Jeffcott

Robert J. Jeffcott, a resident of Seagrass Village in Gulf Shores, and previous longtime resident of Kinston, NC, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at the age of 94.

He was born in New Haven, CT and raised in the New Haven area. He was the son of Robert George Jeffcott and Gertrude R. McNeil Jeffcott.

He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Richard Ross Jeffcott. Bob was an active musician, playing trumpet in the National Guard, US Airforce, and private functions for many years. As an AirForce musician he led a small jazz group on the popular Steve Allen television Show in 1953. This was the same weekend he married his wife, Cynthia. He finalized his education after his AirForce duties at the University of Connecticut, majoring in Business Administration.

He was an industrial engineer for 40 years and was a private consultant. He continued to enjoy music in groups within NC for many years.

Besides his wife, he leaves behind his son, David R. Jeffcott (Brenda) and grandsons, Rylend and Justin of Columbus, OH, and his daughter, Nancy Nelson (David) of Daphne, AL and grandchildren, Lukas, Ross (Sarah), Paige (Brannon) Kerrigan, Julia and boyfriend Michael.

Funeral arrangements will be private. To honor Bob’s memory, he requested his friends and family to offer instrumental lessons to young students. Music enriched his life, and he passed on this passion to his grandchildren and would like this tradition to continue with others.
