At the 43rd Annual BBQ Fest on the Neuse, amidst the savory aroma of smoked meats and the lively atmosphere of festivities, the BBQ Fest on the Neuse team took a moment to recognize a longstanding supporter and local philanthropist, Stephen Hill.

During the festival's proceedings, Board Chair Waylon Adams expressed gratitude towards sponsors, including the North Carolina Railroad Company and Lenoir Community College (LCC). He emphasized the vital role sponsors play in making the festival possible, enabling attendees to enjoy the event to its fullest.

Jan Parson, the Executive Director of Visit Kinston, echoed Adams' sentiments, highlighting the significance of community support in the festival's success. Parson took a moment to acknowledge Hill's contributions, describing him as someone who has been deeply invested in the Kinston community for decades, particularly in the growth and development of the festival.

Parson noted Hill's consistent support, not only financially but also through his active involvement in the festival's activities, from setting up to offering assistance wherever needed. She emphasized Hill's integral role in providing space for festival events, without which many activities would not be possible.

Expressing his gratitude, Hill took the stage, urging attendees to experience the charm of Kinston firsthand.

“Thank you,” said Hill. “Thank you for coming to Kinston. Bring your friends to come and stay. It's the most awesome place in the world.”

In a gesture of appreciation, Tammy Kelly, a board member of BBQ Fest on the Neuse, presented Hill with a custom cutting board crafted by Ed's Shape Shack. The board served as a token of gratitude for Hill's unwavering dedication and service to the organization over the years.
