Town of Maysville awards bids for town hall renovation and new fire department to Farrior & Sons

Maysville, NC — The Maysville Board of Commissioners is proud to announce the awarding of construction bids for two significant municipal projects: the renovation of the Maysville Town Hall and the construction of a brand-new Maysville Volunteer Fire Department. Following a competitive bid process, the construction contract has been awarded to Farrior & Sons, Inc., a reputable North Carolina contractor recognized for its high-quality public infrastructure projects.

Both facilities were professionally designed by Intrepid Architecture, whose thoughtful and community-focused design approach reflects Maysville’s vision for progress, functionality, and long-term sustainability.

Town Hall Renovation

The existing Town Hall, a central part of Maysville’s civic life, will undergo a full-scale interior and exterior renovation. The project will include:

  • Redesigned and modernized office space for staff and public use

  • ADA-compliant accessibility improvements

  • Energy-efficient systems, including HVAC and lighting upgrades

  • Enhanced meeting, boardroom facilities, and a senior room

  • A renewed exterior that blends traditional character with a refreshed presence

New Maysville Fire Department

The new fire station will be built from the ground up to meet today’s emergency service needs and future growth. Key features of the facility will include:

·  Expanded truck bays for emergency apparatus

·  Modern sleeping quarters and rest areas

·  Training and meeting rooms

·  Updated technology infrastructure to support dispatch and operations

·  A design that prioritizes safety, functionality, and community access

The combined cost of the two projects is approximately $5 million, funded through a combination of local contributions, and state appropriations. These state funds were made possible through the dedicated support of Senator Brent Jackson and Representative Chris Humphrey, who have been steadfast advocates for infrastructure investment in Eastern North Carolina.

“We are incredibly grateful to Senator Jackson and Representative Humphrey for their continued support and leadership in helping Maysville access the resources necessary to move these critical projects forward,” said Wayne Sayland, Mayor. “This is a major step toward strengthening the Town’s core services and improving the quality of life for our residents.”

“We are excited to move forward with these transformational projects,” said Schumata Brown, Town Manager. “This investment represents not just bricks and mortar, but our values of safety, service, and community pride. “Thanks to the thoughtful designs by Intrepid Architecture and the capable hands of Farrior & Sons, these facilities will serve the people of Maysville for generations to come.”

“This new fire station is a game-changer for our department and the entire Maysville community. It gives us the space, tools, and infrastructure we need to respond faster, train better, and serve more effectively. We’re grateful to the Town leadership and the state for making this investment in public safety — it’s going to make a lasting impact,” said Chief Jordan, Fire Chief.

Construction is scheduled to begin later this year, with phased completion projected throughout 2026.
