Garland A. Loftin, 91, of Kinston passed away peacefully Monday, March 18, 2024, following declining health from Dementia at the home of his loving caregiver, Angela D. Garris. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 10am at Shady Grove Church, 4375 Middle Road, Trenton, NC. Burial will be private.
Ruby Frances Davis Allison, age 90, left this earth in the early morning of Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at Spring Arbor of Kinston following a brief illness. A service to celebrate Frances’ life will be held at 12:30 PM Saturday, March 16th, at Spilman Memorial Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. H. Powell Dew, Jr. officiating. The family will greet friends and extended relatives immediately following the service at the church.
Shirley Davis Poer, 75, of Kinston passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Friday, March 8, 2024. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at 2:00 PM, with a funeral service to follow.
Charles F. Wade, Sr of Kinston passed away peacefully on March 5, 2024 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. A service of love and remembrance will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home. Committal with military honors will follow at Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Saturday, March 9, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home.
Ellen Bruce Hardy Parker, of Snow Hill, passed away to her Heavenly home on Saturday, March 2, 2024. A service to celebrate Ellen’s life will be held Saturday, March, 9, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Wheat Swamp Christian Church, officiated by Pastor Hank Jarman. The family will receive friends following the service. A private burial will follow at Rainbow United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Vernelle Sparrow Edwards, April 8, 1937 – March 3, 2024, the day God started watching over this sparrow and the day she flew home. Durham Wendell Outlaw, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024. Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Howard-Carter Funeral Home with John Mark Fussell officiating. Burial will be held Monday, March 4, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at East Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Goldsboro with military rites.
Anna Ruth Johnson, 91, passed away on Monday, February 19, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Graveside services will be held on Friday, February 23, at 1:00 PM at Westview Cemetery, with Rev. David Kent officiating.
Patsy “Pat” Burns Cozart Patrick, 98, died February 18, 2024, in the comfort of her home. She was born September 21, 1925, the daughter of Dr. Wiley Simeon Cozart and Pauline Holt Cozart of Fuquay Springs, NC. A Celebration in Thanksgiving for the life of Patsy Cozart Patrick will be held Wednesday, February 21st at 10:30am at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church with Rev. Tom Warren officiating. Pat’s ashes will be borne to St. Francis Gardens for the Committal. Immediately following the Committal, the family will greet friends at the Kinston Country Club.
Warren M. Tyndall, Jr. residing at Lenoir Assisted Living in Pink Hill, NC made his transition into the Presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at UNC Lenoir Hospital on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 after a very brief illness.
James “Dexter” Barnett, 73, of Jackson Heights, peacefully passed away early Sunday morning, February 11th at his home. The services to remember, honor, and celebrate his life will be held at Jackson Heights OFWB Church on Friday, February 16th. Visitation will be from 5:00pm – 6:00pm, and the funeral service will follow. Dexter’s good friend, the Rev. Terry Dennis will be officiating the service.

Naomi Creech Corbin finished her course on this earth on Saturday, February 3, 2024, surrounded by her family. A service to celebrate Naomi’s life will be held in the chapel of Rouse Funeral Home on Thursday, February 8, 2024, 6:00 pm. The family will receive visitors in the hour prior to the service. A private committal will be held at a later date.
