Help Wanted: President, Kinston-Lenoir County Chamber of Commerce

The Organization

The Kinston-Lenoir County Chamber of Commerce has been serving Kinston and Lenoir County since 1911. The Chamber acts as a voice and advocate for the community regarding economic, community and government issues, and represents Kinston and Lenoir County as a great place to live, work and play. For the next 100 years and beyond, the Chamber will continue to lead the way and make Kinston and Lenoir County the heartbeat of the community.

The Kinston-Lenoir County Chamber of Commerce is a 501 (c) 6 non-profit association with approximately 550 members. It is an organization made up of business, agencies, non-profits, and individual members that join together for the common good of promoting business and the general welfare and prosperity of our community. Through this association, the Chamber Board of Directors and members invest their time, talents and financial support to provide benefits, programs, services, and a voice to the community and fellow members’ businesses. The Chamber is constantly working to promote business, quality education and economic growth while striving to meet the needs of the community.

Candidate Profile

  • The ideal candidate will be a dynamic, innovative leader with excellent collaboration, communication, and presentation skills.

  • He/she will have some experience in community service and/or volunteer experiences.

  • Must be able to speak with individuals at all levels within an organization.

  • Possess the ability for flexibility in work schedule to include evening and weekends as needed to attend events/meetings.

  • Possess the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in an organized and timely manner.

  • Possess proficiency in basic computing skills (internet, Microsoft Office, Social Media, etc.).

Position Overview

The President is the Chief Executive Officer of the organization. He/she is responsible to the Board of Directors for the full range of activities including, but not limited to, coordination of the Program of Work including short-and long-term goal setting; organizational structure and procedures; volunteer motivation; budget and supervision; policy enforcement; office presentation; and public relations.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of work experience.

Prior chamber, economic development, marketing, and/or public relations experience is preferable but not required.

Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Compensation

The salary range for the position is $45,000 to $60,000.
