A Conversation With ... Judge Annette Turik

By Bryan Hanks

Annette Turik, who was appointed as a district court judge earlier this week by Gov. Roy Cooper, sat down with Neuse News Editor Bryan Hanks for a chat about her appointment, her path to the judgeship and her family.

Judge Turik is a Kinston native who graduated from Pitt Community College with a degree in paralegal technology, N.C. Wesleyan College with a degree in criminal justice and N.C. Central University School of Law with a Juris Doctor degree. She served as a paralegal in Kinston and Raleigh while working on her law degree.

She previously served as a judge appointee in 2016; she was appointed to fulfill the term of Judge Les Turner, who passed away earlier this year. The term is set to expire in 2020, but Turik told Neuse News she will seek reelection to the seat.

Judge Turik is married to Dr. Scott Turik; the Turiks are the parents of Caleb, 18, and Kyle, 16.
