Kinston Police: Suspect arrested

Savoy Edwards

On Monday, September 24, 2018, at approximately 8:23 am, members of the Kinston Police Department responded to a person shot call at 1007 Tower Hill Rd. in Kinston. Upon arrival, officers found Timothy Earl Staton, B/M, 32 yoa, with an apparent gunshot wound to his left side and to his head. The victim's wounds do not appear to be life threatening. On September 27, 2018, an arrest warrant was issued for Savoy Edwards, B/M, 44 yoa for Attempted Murder and AWDWIKISI.

On October 5, 2018, Savoy Edwards, along with his attorney, met officers to turn himself in at the Kinston Police Department. Savoy Edwards was placed in the Lenoir County Detention Center under a secured bond. This incident is still under investigation.
