UPDATE: Kinston Police: Murder suspect arrested

Terrance Desha Epps Jr.

On October 9, 2018, an arrest warrant was issued for Terrance Desha Epps Jr. of LaGrange, NC for First Degree Murder. Later in the evening, Terrance Desha Epps Jr. turned himself in to the Pitt County Sherriff’s Office where he was placed in the Pitt County Detention Center under no bond. This investigation is ongoing.

Trashon Alterek Rhem later died from the injuries he sustained in the shooting.

On Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018, at approximately 9:34 PM, members of the Kinston Police Dept. responded to a report of a person shot call at 308 South McDaniels Street in Kinston.  Upon arrival officers found Trashon Alterek Rhem, DOB-01/07/1993, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. 

Rhem was transported to UNC Lenoir Hospital, and from there to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville for treatment.  This investigation is ongoing.
