Chick-Fil-A has made changes to its mobile app with a goal to benefit customers even more.
On Aug. 1, the organization started its Chick-Fil-A One program, allowing customers the ability to earn points each time one purchases food or drinks from the restaurant. Besides picking up points, depending on the Chick-Fil-A a customer goes to, free food and drinks will be given.
La Grange resident Christian Young said he likes the app.
“It’s pretty good,” Young said. “Sometimes they randomly send you free stuff and then if you pay with (the app), you get points that add up and you redeem them for food.”
Kinston Chick-Fil-A marketing director Wendi Howard said the app works by the store location the customer purchases from via the app, with the opportunity to benefit from multiple restaurants.
“If you’ve ever scanned the app in our store, you’re automatically in our database for 30 days,” Howard said. “If you’ve scanned the app twice, you’re in for 90 days, three times for 180 days and if you do a catering order you’re in for the year. You can be at three different stores’ database at one time because it would be really confusing for more, especially in an area where there’s a lot of Chick-Fil-A’s like Atlanta.”
Howard said numerous customers have used it in the Kinston location and benefitted by more than just the point system.
“We have a database of more than 3,000 people,” Howard said. “We will put in rewards on birthdays and anniversaries, or if we read that a person did something phenomenal, had a baby or moved, just to give more of a personal connection.”
Kinston Chick-Fil-A operator John McPhaul said the app has been around since 2016, but Aug. 1 marked the important differences.
“Our most recent upgrade is our loyalty program, which allows customers to track their points and see their tier,” McPhaul said. “There are three tiers: Member, Silver and Red and within the membership the higher the tier, the more points someone earns per dollar spent. There are also more choices to redeem points with, which allows more of a variety and the personal experience.”
Besides using the phone for the app, customers can go online to chick-fil-a.com/one to set up an account.
