What's at the Farmer's Market?
There will be lots of greens....mustard, kale, henpeck, turnips, turnip roots, collards...sweet potatoes, squash, peppers and Honey Crisp and Granny Smith NC mountain apples.
Also, soaps. liniments, scrubs, bath soaks, fizz balls and many kinds of all natural products with which to pamper yourself. Crafts to decorate your home and local honey for your health and enjoyment. Sadly, Sandra, the egg lady will not me around on Saturday, due to illness in her family. Maybe even pork skins, rinds and peanuts will be available
Upcoming events at the Farmer's Market
November 17- Super Saturday! Don’t miss this one!
We are so very exited to welcome once again, as the highlight of our market season, Kinston's own, PBS A Chef's Life star and co owner of the Chef and the Farmer restaurant, the Boiler Room, Wilmington's Benny's Big Time and the forthcoming Handy and Hot in Kinston. Needless to say, Vivian is a very busy person, but still takes time to honor our market, and its vendors by giving a cooking demo and sampling to their customers on the Saturday before Thanksgiving.
Her sister, Leraine Tolston, also a busy lady, and owner of Queen Street Deli, adds her talent to do the same. Who knows what deliciousness these two will create and serve as samples. Demo begins about 11 o'clock.
We are also privileged to have the Southern Sugar Bakery girls, former Miss Kinston, Angie Daniels Tucker and Christin Kubasco will be with us with their holiday themed decorated cookies and a decorting demo beginning at 10 o'clock.
There will be more to this story as our Super Saturday approaches. It will be a very fun day !!! Stay tuned for updates!
Chloe Albritton will have her delicious French bread which she will have available for a donation to to fund a mission trip to Costa Rico this summer. Ruth Anderson and her KHS and LCC Early College students will prepare baked goodies which can be had for a donation to their summer trip.
Keep in mind that this group will also take pre orders for your holiday poinsettias which will be delivered by the end of December. Please support these projects.
Donna McGee will also being taking orders for her beautiful hand made wreaths. These wreaths are made from freshly cut greens from the NC mountains. You can add your own enhancements to make your wreath especially for you ! This is Donna's eighth trip to our market!
And if that's not enough excitement for one day ... we will also host local artists and craftsmen. They will display and have for sale their creations. Keep in mind, these will make great Christmas gifts ! For infomation, email plj@suddenlink.net. Please join us for this very special day!
