BREAKING NEWS: Arrest made in Kinston shooting; one suspect still at large
The Kinston Police Department made one arrest in a shooting incident on Wednesday but the department needs your help in locating another suspect.
The KPD, with the help of the U.S. Marshal Task Force, arrested Rodney Irving Meadows, 31, in Kinston without incident. He was charged with attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and attempted first degree murder and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon. Meadows was placed in the Lenoir County Detention Center under a $1 million secured bond.
The KPD is still looking for Demario Dontrez Washington, 25. He has arrest warrants for attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, attempted first degree murder and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.
The warrants for Meadows and Washington stemmed from an incident on June 22 after a shots-fired call on the 800 block of East Bright Street in Kinston. Right before 5 a.m. that day, officers received a shots-fired call and found Meadows suffering from a gunshot wound at the location. A few moments later, Quentin Jones, 29, arrived at UNC Lenoir hospital also suffering from a gunshot wound. Investigation revealed both subjects were involved in the same shooting. Meadows and Jones were both transported to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville for treatment.
