Reece Gardner: An orderly society

There are certain rules in life that we must live by if we are to maintain an orderly society.

I am sure most of us are rather tired of the never-ending, often vicious, attacks on President Trump. There is apparently nothing he can say or do that will evoke praise from those who still cannot, or will not, accept the fact that he won the election, and that he has put in place policies that are obviously working for the good of the country, both at home and abroad.

And yet his enemies continue to attack, apparently hoping their constant negative barrage will somehow peel Trump voters away from him and render him vulnerable to impeachment. But as columnist Marc Thiessen recently pointed out, these nonstop over-the-top attacks are not only not taking voters away from him, they are pushing them further into the president's camp.

He further stated that Trump derangement syndrome has reached critical mass, from actor Robert DeNiro's ugly anti-Trump tirade at the Tony Awards to the Red Hen restaurant throwing White House press secretary Sarah Sanders out of their establishment, to seeing chanting protesters heckling Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielson at a Mexican restaurant.

Add to this the call from some on the left encouraging left-wing activists to "absolutely harass" Trump officials wherever they are, even in their own homes. And on the Immigration issue, there have been those who compared family separations at the southern border with Nazi Germany, and a Time Magazine cover depicting Trump staring down heartlessly at a crying migrant girl and implying that she had been separated from her mother, when in fact that had not happened.

Add to that the Mueller Investigation that apparently knows no boundaries while so-called Attorney General Sessions seems to be siding with them.

But this tirade is getting very old, folks, and it shows with Trump's recent Gallup approval rating hitting 50 percent, and his approval rating among Republicans at a near-record 87 percent. The U.S. Constitution represents the "rules of the game", which we need to recognize and adhere.

I will now close on a humorous note which helps to explain the importance of playing by the rules of the game: Bob left work on Friday evening. It was payday, so instead of going home, he stayed out the entire weekend, partying with his friends.

When he finally got home on Sunday night he was confronted by his angry wife who spent two hours shouting at him. Finally, she stopped the shouting and said to him, "How would you like it if you didn't see me for two or three days?" He replied, "That would be fine with me."

So, Monday went by and he didn't see his wife.  Tuesday and Wednesday came and went, with the same result.  But on Thursday the swelling went down just enough to where he could see her a little out of the corner of his eye.

Have a WONDERFUL day!
