Greene Central routs Princeton for the second time

SNOW HILL -- Greene Central’s offense was on full display again with a 9-0 victory over Princeton Tuesday.

The Rams (4-1) have scored six goals or more in their wins, including a 10-1 rout of Princeton on Aug. 22. Greene Central’s next game will be against D.H. Conley at home Sept. 5, with the Vikings being the only team to defeat the Rams, by a count of 8-1 on Aug. 23.

North Lenoir races past Wilson Fike, wins sixth straight contest

LA GRANGE -- Don’t look now, but North Lenoir is on a tear heading into Eastern Carolina Conference play.

The Hawks picked up their sixth consecutive straight sets victory after defeating Wilson Fike Tuesday at home. North Lenoir (6-1) will start ECC play on the road against West Craven Thursday and look to win its first conference title since 2015 in the process. The team’s only loss has been to undefeated East Duplin in the season opener.

Bethel Christian wins season-opener

Bethel Christian started the season strong with a 25-17, 22-25, 25-21, 25-12 victory over TEACH Homeschool Tuesday.

Laura Fulcher led the way with eight kills while Shelby Dilda contributed nine assists for the Trojans, who will face Greenville Christian Academy at home Thursday.

Ayden-Grifton defeats Farmville Central for second time this season

FARMVILLE -- It was déjà vu for Ayden-Grifton, defeating Farmville Central in straight sets convincingly Tuesday.

The Chargers (6-1) won 25-5, 25-9, 25-10 in the last meeting on Aug. 22 and racked up a 25-9, 25-7, 25-17 game the second time to pick up their sixth straight victory. The only loss Ayden-Grifton has suffered came at the hands of undefeated South Central.

The Chargers will play North Pitt on the road Thursday before opening up conference play at South Lenoir Sept. 4.

Greene Central falls to Wilson Beddingfield

SNOW HILL – Greene Central tried to garner a bit of revenge, but fell short in a five-set loss to Wilson Beddingfield Tuesday.

The Rams (1-5) fell to the Bruins in four sets on Aug. 13 and tried to return the favor in the final nonconference game before Eastern Carolina Conference matches. Greene Central will face Washington on the road Thursday.
