Wood Ducks lose seventh straight game
A lack of offense proved to be costly for the Down East Wood Ducks in its 3-0 loss to the first-place Winston-Salem Dash in front of 1,661 fans at Historic Grainger Stadium Saturday night.
The Woodies (23-45 second half, 58-80 overall) only managed three hits in the loss, the seventh loss in a row for the team. LeDarious Clark, Yanio Perez and Ricky Valencia managed the only hits for the home team.
Tyler Thomas saw his record drop to 0-2 as he gave up two earned runs in five innings of action.
Zach Remillard had two RBIs to lead the Dash (42-24, 83-53). Drew Hasler earned the pitching victory with two relief innings of one-hit baseball in which he struck out two.
The Wood Ducks and Dash will play the penultimate game of the regular season at 2 p.m. Sunday. It’s Sunday Funday at the ballpark; from 12:30-1 p.m., the entire Woodies team will sign autographs on the stadium concourse. Children 12-and-under will also be able to run bases after the game.
