Greene Central defeats Washington

SNOW HILL | It may have been 15 days since Greene Central played soccer, but the Rams were ready to make a statement.

Greene Central defeated a powerhouse Washington team 5-4 Tuesday, handing the Pam Pack (7-4, 3-1 Eastern Carolina Conference) their first conference loss of the season and second since joining the ECC last year. Greene Central (5-4, 1-1) fell to Washington 3-2 in its last game on Sept. 10 before Hurricane Florence hit.

Nathan Drake had a pair of goals and an assist for Greene Central, with Giovany Juan Marcos, Jose Morquecho and Brayan Ledezma all scoring for the Rams. Eduardo Gonzalez added an assist for Greene Central, who played North Pitt on the road Wednesday.

Greene Central falls to Washington

SNOW HILL | Greene Central made progress in its second matchup against Washington, but fell 17-25, 25-17, 25-15, 25-19 Tuesday.

The Rams (2-9, 1-4 ECC) fell in straight sets in the first meeting between the teams on Aug. 30, but couldn’t halt a three-game skid in the process.

Arendell Parrott’s flawless start came to an end Tuesday with a 5-2 defeat to St. David’s Tuesday.

The Patriots (4-1) will look to bounce back against Grace Christian Thursday.
