3-on-3 Basketball Tournament to be held Saturday to raise money for Jones Senior
Teams of players with skills on the basketball court are encouraged to play in Trenton Saturday for a good piece of cash.
Jones Senior will hold a 3-on-3 “Kings of the Court” basketball tournament Saturday at the new gym. Registration starts at 9 a.m. with the games to commence an hour later. It will be a double-elimination tournament with games going to 21 or stopped after 15 minutes. Early registration is $70 and registration the day of is $80. General admission is $5 with children 5 and under allowed in for free.
All proceeds will go to Jones Senior High School and the championship team will receive 25 percent of all registration fees as a prize.
“We’re trying to come up with creative ways to raise money for the school,” Tournament coordinator Jason Barker said. “So many people talk about how they can play, so we felt the 3-on-3 tournament was a chance for them to show what they’ve got.”
Barker said the plan is to have the tournament often if the initial one is successful.
“We’re hoping for a good turnout and if so, we’ll do it every season — we’ll have a tournament in the spring, summer, fall and winter,” Barker said.
The preferred age for tournament participants is 18 and older, but anyone younger can still play with a signature from a parent.
