Sharron James-Bizzell, licensure specialist in Lenoir County Public Schools’ human resources department, is the new state president of the North Carolina Association of Educational Office Professionals.

Bizzell, who was installed during the association’s state conference March 20-22 in Winston-Salem, has held numerous leadership positions with the NCAEOP since joining in 1990, serving as president on the county and district levels and vice-president and president-elect on the state level.

Her selection as the association’s 69th state president was recognized by LCPS Superintendent Brent Williams and the Lenoir County Board of Education at the board’s April 8 meeting.

“Ms. Bizzell has dedicated herself to professionalism and life-long learning opportunities,” Williams said then. “We’re very proud of you, Ms. Bizzell.”

NCAEOP membership is open to educational office personnel and administrators in public and private educational systems through the state. The association promotes professionalism and offers opportunities for professional certification and growth for its hundreds of members.

Bizzell, of Goldsboro, holds Masters level certification in the association’s Professional Standards Program and is a member of the National Association of Educational Office Professionals.

As is tradition with NCAEOP presidents, Bizzell revealed the logo and slogan for her one-year tenure during the state conference. The logo – from a stained-glass piece entitled the Tree of Life/Goddess Mosaic – serves as a reminder that many little pieces make up something whole and harmonious. Her slogan, “Season 2019-2020 – Shifting Empowerment and Shifting our Norm,” draws attention to the many seasons of change the association has seen since its founding in 1951.

“If we see change as a naturally occurring event, much like the change of seasons, then we can embrace change as a gift and an invitation to improve and enhance our lives,” Bizzell said. “I am following in the footsteps of some great leaders. The individuals who formed this association were motivated and persistent in pursuing a goal of success for NCAEOP. This year will be no different.”

Superintendent Williams served as installing officer at the state conference, which was also attended by Assistant Superintendent Nicholas Harvey II and Human Resources Director Pam Heath.
