Three students from Pink Hill Elementary School have won regional honors in the annual N.C. Soil and Water Conservation Service poster contest and will take their artistic creations into state competition.

First-place winners in the Area 6 contest were Braylon G. Canady, third-grade division; Benitez Miranda, fourth grade; and Carly Hill, fifth grade. Their wins in the Area 6 contest qualified them to step up to the state level.

“We are so excited and proud of our three winners,” Pink Hill principal Lee Anne Hardy said. “We wish them all the best at this next level and we are confident we will have a state winner.”

The three students and other local winners will be celebrated by the Lenoir Soil and Water Conservation District at a cookout in May.

The theme for the 2018-19 contest is “The Living Soil.”
