Peyton Howard, North Lenoir, baseball

Howard delivered a great performance on the mound against South Lenoir April 30. In his final home start of the regular season, the senior threw a complete game shutout, allowing just three hits and one walk while striking out 10 in a 10-0 victory over the Blue Devils.

Favorite food: Cheeseburgers

Favorite musical group: The Zac Brown Band

One place she would like to travel to: England

The toughest place for her to play: Washington, because of the competition and his desire to do well for the Hawks there

Kiley Guthrie, Ayden-Grifton, softball

Guthrie was an integral part of the Chargers’ offense last week in a pair of victories. The sophomore went 3-5 with a home run and five RBIs in a 13-12 win over West Craven April 30 and followed with a 3-4 outing with a stolen base in a 12-8 victory against Greene Central two days later.

Favorite food: Tacos

Favorite musical group: Panic! At The Disco

One place she would like to travel to: Paris

The toughest place for her to play: Washington, due to pitcher Abbi Tucker’s velocity and the team’s overall ability to hit well
