NOTICE OF SMOKE TESTING

On Monday and Tuesday, City of Kinston employees will be performing smoke testing of their sanitary sewer system. Smoke testing is one method used to check the condition of sanitary sewer collections systems. The lines being tested are located along Hwy 70 from Massey Toyota to Sale Auto Mall, and between Walmart and Lowes.

Some homes or businesses in these areas may notice a smoky odor or some visible smoke from streets, yards and some sewer services during the testing. The smoke will be generated by a smoke machine, not from a fire. However, if you see or smell smoke in your building and are not sure where it is coming from, please treat it like fire and call 911. The testing will be performed between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
