APA defeated previously unbeaten Grace Christian

RALEIGH — Arendell Parrott Academy picked up a 25-17, 25-20, 25-9 win over Grace Christian, knocking the team from the ranks of the unbeaten.

Alli Grant Avery had 18 kills and four blocks and Mackenzie Pope added 12 kills and 20 assists for the Patriots (13-3), who dominated the match against Grace Christian (16-1). APA takes on Cary Christian Tuesday.

Bethel Christian off to best season since 2014

The Trojans defeated Raleigh Christian Academy Sept. 20 and Faith Christian Academy Tuesday, both in four sets, to continue its strong start.

Bethel Christian (6-3) has already surpassed its win totals of the past three seasons and has its best start since going 12-2 to begin the 2014 campaign. The Trojans’ last winning record came in 2015 when the team went 14-7.

Laura Fulcher has led the way with 21 kills in the two games, Kelly Suggs added 10 service aces and Johanna Banks has distributed 41 assists. The Trojans continue their six-game road trip Oct. 3 against Jacksonville Christian Academy.
