Lenoir County Transit Director Angie Greene announced her department will be open Thursday, Sept. 5, for county residents who require transportation to a shelter or if they need to evacuate their homes because of Hurricane Dorian.

Residents requiring transport to the shelter at Lenoir Community College or to evacuate their home are asked to call 252-523-4171, and then hit Option 2 to speak to a dispatcher.

Lenoir County Transit will also transport pets along with residents, as long as the animals are in a carrier.

In addition to the evacuations and transport to the shelter at LCC, Lenoir County Transit will run normal operations on Thursday. LCT will be closed on Friday.

If a county resident requires emergency transportation after 5 p.m. on Thursday or any time on Friday, they are asked to call the Lenoir County Emergency Operations Center at 252-559-1911.
