The Small Cities Council provides elected officials the opportunity to learn from other municipalities that experience some of the same small city issues that take place throughout the many cities towns and villages across the United States of America. The Council has retreats to smaller communities to learn about many different ways of approaching challenges and tapping resources that are available based of the size of such smaller municipalities as Kinston NC.

As a member of the Small Cities Council, Mayor Hardy will play a key role in identifying common trends across municipalities and developing policy options and responses for cities, towns and villages.

The leadership of this year’s Small Cities Council includes Chair Scott Maxwell (Vice Mayor Pro Tem - Lake Worth Beach, FL), Vice Chair Lew Watson (Mayor - Lincoln, AL) and Vice Chair Joyce Downing (Councilmember - Northglenn, CO).
