Help wanted: Lenoir County Health Department - Public Health Nurse Supervisor I

SALARY RANGE: $44,208 - $78,011

The primary purposes of this position are:

  • To serve as Supervisor for CMARC and CMHRP for Nurses and Social Workers.

  • To be proficient in the use of Patagonia, Virtual Health and NCIR.

  • To ensure home visits are made for the purpose of case management in a timely manner.

  • To evaluate the performance of and effectiveness of staff.

  • To serve as a resource person for Case Managers and any staff with questions about CMARC and CMHRP.

  • To provide Nursing Director with data that presents the outcomes of LCHD Case Management Programs.

  • To contact community partners on a quarterly basis to make sure the referral process is understood and is happening to ensure healthy outcomes for families of Lenoir County.

  • To market these programs with community partners to ensure understanding and proper referral and use of the program.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Considerable knowledge of and skill in the application of theory, practices, principles and techniques employed in the field of public health and related programs.

  • Considerable knowledge of and ability to apply the principles and practices of public health. General knowledge of current social and economic problems relating to public health.

  • Considerable knowledge of available resources and organizations.

  • Ability to deal tactfully with others and to exercise good judgment in appraising situations and making decisions.

  • Ability to secure the cooperation of others, to elicit needed information and to maintain effective working relationships.

  • Ability to record accurately services rendered and to interpret and explain records, reports, and medical instructions.

  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and supervise the work of others.

  • Ability to communicate, verbally and written, with staff, community agencies, and general population.

  • Considerable computer skills.

  • Flexible and open to change to meet the needs of the community.

  • Ability to record accurately services rendered and to interpret and explain records, reports and medical instructions.

Minimum Training and Experience:

Graduation from a four-year college or university with a B.S. in Nursing which includes a Public Health Nursing rotation and two years of Public Health nursing experience; or a Master's in Public Health and graduation from a school of professional nursing and two years of professional nursing experience; or graduation from a school of professional nursing and three years of professional nursing experience including two years of Public Health nursing experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation:

Current license to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina by the N.C. Board of Nursing. Must possess a current and valid N.C. Driver's license.
