Lenoir Community College’s Arts & Sciences Department is presenting Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues January 24 and 25 at Queen Street Deli. This play is often performed on college campuses as a part of “V Day,” which is a global activist movement that works toward ending violence and trafficking of women and girls across the world. This movement was inspired by Ensler’s play, and LCC’s production, while not a V Day production, is being performed to benefit local women and students.

The play features Lenoir Community College students, faculty, and staff. All of the play’s proceeds will be donated. Kinston’s local women’s shelter, SAFE, will receive 50 percent of all proceeds from the production. The remaining 50 percent of the proceeds will benefit LCC’s Empowering Women and Performing Arts scholarships.

Tickets are $15 and include a dessert bar provided by Queen Street Deli. Doors and the wine bar will open at 7 p.m. on January 24 and 25, and the show will run from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. with a 30-minute intermission.
