Help wanted: Lenoir County - Landfill/Solid Waste Utility Worker (Part-time)

DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The primary purpose of this position is to provide responsible upkeep of roadside signs, grounds, buildings, and equipment for the Lenoir County Landfill/Solid Waste department.

KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Working knowledge of grounds keeping. Thorough knowledge regarding the location of every recycling center within Lenoir County. Must have the ability to safely and efficiently operate lawn equipment used within the Landfill. Ability to work independently. Ability to follow oral instructions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and performing repetitive motions. Must be able to perform work exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from High School. Experience in solid waste lawn care equipment operations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid North Carolina driver’s license is required.
