Help wanted: Lenoir County Health Department Administrative officer I

ANNUAL SALARY RANGE: $32,053 - $56,563

DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The primary purpose of this position is to function as the Fiscal Agent/Personnel/Payroll Officer of the Health Department and serve as lead accounting technician in the business office. Employee also serves as backup for the Accounts Payable Technician. This position prepares the department’s annual budget, assists in determining sources of revenue, assures funds are properly utilized according to state/federal/local guidelines, prepares expenditure and time equivalency reports, serves as a deputy register of vital records and payroll officer, and completes personnel actions.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: General knowledge of the principles of data input, processing, and outputs and excellent public contact skills are necessary. Knowledge of computers and various types of computer software are required (Excel a must). Working with a variety of office equipment (i.e. fax, calculator, telephone, and copier) is also required. Good verbal and written communication skills are important. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with public, staff, and other governmental employees is essential. Ability to work under time constraints and other demands and coordinate work assignments with other individuals is critical in this position.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from a four-year college or university and one year of experience in personnel, budgeting, research or administrative management; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
