In the early morning hours, a car brushed against the bricks of the building, took out a light pole, and wedged between the building and the trees. The Herritage recently opened when Governor Cooper allowed bars to open with outdoor seating in October after being forced to close for the better part of 2020.

“All I know at the moment is that is a single vehicle collision, struck a pole. 23-year-old male driver. Minor injury. Came in at 5:01 am,” said Kinston Police Chief Dilday. “Reports are submitted electronically into the DMV system. It will take a couple of days to validate and become available.”

On The Herritage’s Facebook, the photo title stated, “Herritage - 1 Vue - 0”

The light pole damaged in the wreck has already been fixed according to Rhonda Barwick, Kinston’s Public Services Director.
