An update on Kinston Businesses that opened in 2020
While many businesses struggled to open during a pandemic, these local businesses opened in Kinston and continue to thrive with the support of the community.
Evelyn’s Boutique
Evelyn’s Boutique, a shop on Herritage opened on July 6th, 2020.
“So far business has been good but I feel like it will be busier as more people continue to hear about us. I still have people come in every week saying they had no idea we were there,” said Stacie Brown, Owner Evelyn's Boutique. “The community could help by simply following us on Facebook, sharing posts, or leaving us a review on Facebook or Google.”
Manhattan Cigar
On November 14th, The Manhattan Cigar Bar opened on Queen Street in Kinston.
“We’ve had an awesome response from the local and surrounding community. Downtown Kinston is thriving and has a very bright future,” said Nicholas Harvey II. “Please encourage everyone to continue to support local businesses. Thank you!”
Woodberry Chocolate Company
The Woodberry Chocolate Company officially began operating at The Market in September.
“So far so good,” said Anna Brown. “Christmas time has been the best so far as we have had the opportunity to work on a fundraiser and people have been steadily purchasing our gift boxes as presents. The community can support us by continuing to purchasing our chocolates and sharing with friends and family.”
Smithfield Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q
Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q opened their doors on September 17th 2020.
“Well, the community has been very receptive and supportive,” said Ngiare Hubbard, Smithfield Chicken & Bar-B-Q Executive Assistant. “‘We just want to be the best’. Share your experience with us, good or bad. We are always looking to improve ourselves.”
