This month Greene County Middle School student members of the Jr. Beta Club attended the North Carolina JR. Beta Club Convention in Greensboro. GCMS took 28 students to the convention. At the convention, GCMS presented its first-ever group performing arts presentation of the Lion King. Students wrote, choreographed, and built the set pieces for the presentation. Also at the convention students competed in academic competitions in various fields.
Harlee Murray and Rylee Greene, 7th graders at GCMS, placed second in the state in the Technology Competition. This is the first time in GCMS history that any student has placed at the state level for JR. Beta. Murray and Greene designed a website about GCMS and the JR. BETA Club’s impact on the school and the community. Murray and Greene will now get to compete at the National Convention in San Antonio Texas this June. If you would like to support these talented young ladies as they move forward to compete at the National Convention please contact their sponsor Matthew Lococo at matthewlococo@greene.k12.nc.us.
