An update from Dr. Bert Bright:

In the interest of safety and after consultation with many authorities, we have decided to keep our campus closed and continue online instruction through April 17, 2020. In keeping with our 2019-2020 school calendar, there should be no instruction on Monday, March 23rd or during our APA Spring Break week, April 13th through 17th.

Given the recommendations from state and national levels as well as guidelines from the CDC, all school-related activities and ceremonies that were planned from March 16th through April 17th have been canceled, including Terra Nova testing and our prom. (Given the stated importance of the prom to our students, if we return to school later this spring we will consider rescheduling a modified prom event.)

The College Board communicated today that Advanced Placement exams will not be a traditional face-to-face exam this year. AP exams will be administered online and will consist of a 45-minute online exam at home. For each AP subject, there will be 2 different test dates. Additional AP testing details will be available on April 3rd and we will share more information once it is updated.

We are dealing with a national crisis that no one alive has ever experienced, so there are many questions for which we have no answers. We do know that social distancing works when practiced appropriately. I’d like to re-emphasize the critically important role that our students play in the health of their families and our community. Thank you for your patience and support as our APA school community navigates the unprecedented challenges posed by the coronavirus (COVID 19) outbreak. We will continue to communicate with our APA families as needed throughout the coming days and weeks. Please stay safe!
