Governor Cooper informs Council of State of an additional 13 deaths due to Covid-19

In a conference call meeting of the North Carolina Council of State, Governor Roy Cooper (D) ended the call by giving the latest statistics to be released by NCDHHS. As of this morning, NC has 3,221 positive cases of Covid-19 in 90 counties and 46 deaths. See yesterday’s totals.

Governor Cooper stated, “Unfortunately we have lost 46 people to this very cruel disease that also makes it so people die alone or to get well alone without the family being around. It makes it particularly tough on everyone.”

Lt. Governor Dan Forest (R), who is also running for NC Governor, told Governor Cooper, “First, let me start by saying that I continue to pray for you and your team daily and all the folks around this table. I certainly know that every decision is very difficult and every difficult decision obviously has a positive result, but also negative consequences as well.”

All members of the Council of State were present for the call and they are:

Treasurer Folwell is recovering from a Covid-19 scare, which had him hospitalized for a few days. He was on the call and gave his report from home.

Governor Cooper will hold a press conference at 2:00 pm today.
