A prayer for military by Pastor Selma Corbett
Heavenly Father. Lord of Host. Almighty God! On this Day of Prayer, I ask that you extend your unchanging love to the men and women who serve in the many branches of our Armed Forces and Military Service.
Jesus Himself told us in Matthew 24:6-7..”and ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars and nations rising against nations”. As your word fulfills before us, keep our military covered under your almighty shadow and protected in your secret place. Be their refuge, their fortress and their deliverer. Thank you for the angels given charge over them to keep them.
As they prepare to carry out their missions to serve and protect our country, turn their hearts to you. Thank you for being the one they can trust so they have no need to lean to their own understanding. In all that they do, you said if they acknowledge you, you will direct their path.
Father give them your favor as they tread upon foreign soils and dangerous tasks. We give you all the glory for every victory and every safe return.
Father our military have many concerns and I thank you for giving us answers.
For fear, give them the strength and courage as you gave your servant Joshua.
When they are lonely, thank you that Jesus is a friend who sticks closer than a brother and one who will never leave nor forsake them.
Cast down the thoughts and imaginations that opens the door for strongholds of depression, mental health and PTSD. Give them peace that surpasses all understanding.
Provide shelter for the homeless and meet their financial needs.
Heal their bodies from physical pain. Protect them from pestilence such as COVID-19 and other unseen battles that they might face.
Bless their families. Let spouses and children feel the comfort of your presence in the absence of their military loved one. Give provisions, to meet their daily needs as only you can supply. Take care of them, Lord.
Father bless our military leaders who have charge over so many lives. Help them to lead with integrity and valor. Help them to know that they should seek your guidance; knowing that true wisdom only comes from you.
But most of all God, I pray for those who don’t know Jesus in the parting of their sin. Touch their hearts that they may be receptive to the Good News that Jesus loves them and that He died that they might have eternal life.
May our Military be a symbol of honor to you and that they spread your glory throughout the earth.
For these things I am praying, in Jesus name. Amen!
