Last Sunday, May 3rd, my family and I participated in a very awe-inspiring Parade at Kinston Veterans Home. We took our place in the long line of decorated cars, trucks, fire engines, EMS trucks, and motorcycles. We were there to salute our heroes, our veterans for their dedicated service to our country. We were there to thank the Veterans Home Staff.

There are NO words that can express the emotion of appreciation we have for these NOBLE Vets, as one said; “Not all angels reside in heaven. Many walked the battlefield.”

So as I saw those men last Sunday lined up in wheelchairs on the VA Home campus’ sidewalks, brought to my thoughts how they may have lined up in battles and wars to fight for our freedom; “Home of the Free, because of the Brave.”

I also thought of the Marine patrol that reached the summit of Mount Suribachi on Iwo Jima and raised a small American flag, 1945. How those men in wheelchairs might have lined up and came together with their brothers, as those at Iwo Jima, and dedicated their life as a soldier for our freedom, as we live today.

We want to thank Veterans Home for all they do. Everyone, all the extraordinary staff for all they do for our Veterans. My husband is a resident and he receives excellent care. Communication personally, by phone, and “DUO” has been very comforting for me. All updates, changes, concerns of my husband; I receive an immediate call from the facility. Absolutely everyone has provided the utmost professional care to my husband.

As we drove around the premises, I asked where my husband might be located. I know I asked several staff members from different parade setup areas. “Do you know where E… G…. would be” Every single person, Oh! Dr. E, he is in the front….. It gave me much happiness to know they know my husband, not just as a patient but personally know him by name. Thank you so much; the love you have for my husband radiates from your kindness and care.

Again, I want to thank the facility for the amazing communication via “DUO”

God Bless Our Veterans and the Kinston Veteran’s Home Staff!
