Lenoir County Commissioners call emergency meeting to discuss Confederate monument

This memo serves as public notice of the above-referenced open meeting to be held as follows:

TIME: 10:00 a.m.

DAY Thursday

DATE: June 25, 2020

PLACE: North Carolina Cooperative Extension/Lenoir County Center 1791 NC 11 Kinston, NC 

PURPOSE: Pursuant to G.S. 143-318.12(b)(3) the Chairman of the Lenoir County Board of Commissioners does hereby call an Emergency Meeting to be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2020, for discussion about the Confederate monument which is erected at the Kinston Lenoir County Visitors and Information Center located at 101 E. New Bern Road, Kinston, NC.

To maintain the safety of citizens, staff, and Commissioners, as well as prevent the spread of the coronavirus.  The Board of Commissioners Meeting scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 25, 2020, will be conducted electronically from the NC Cooperative Extension/Lenoir County Center, located at 1791 NC 11, Kinston, NC.  The agenda can be accessed and is available on the Lenoir County Government website at http://www.co.lenoir.nc.us/documents/06252020FullAgenda.pdf

The public and news media can view the meeting via the Lenoir County website at http://www.co.lenoir.nc.us/.  All public comments for the agenda should be submitted to the link listed below no later than Wednesday, June 24, 2020, at 5:00 p.m. to Ms. Vickie Freeman King, Clerk to the Board of Commissioners at https://forms.gle/nq8XDcVCAgUXbR8A6.

Lenoir County is making every effort to ensure that the public can listen to the meeting as well as participate in the public comments portion of the Board meeting, while still maintaining statutory requirements and keeping the public safe.
