Jones County government position: Tax administrator/assessor

Tax administrator/assessor - $49,698 - $52,215

Plans, organizes, directs, controls and administers all County ad valorem tax and revenue functions including listing, billing, collections, real property appraisal, personal property appraisal, registered motor vehicle administration, business personal property taxation, mapping, etc.

Establishes the Departmental mission, sets strategic plans and obtains necessary resources and staffing. Supervises tax collections for Jones County and all motor vehicle administration for towns within the County. Exercises considerable initiative and independent judgment to ensure effectiveness of the tax program. Exercises considerable tact and courtesy in frequent contact with general public, property owners and government officials. Reports to the County Manager and is appointed by the Board of Commissioners.

Education and experience requirements: Requires a Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting or a related field; experience in management and supervision of tax assessment, appraisal or collections; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.

Valid North Carolina Driver’s License
