Lenoir Community College was recently awarded $15,000 from SECU Bridge to Career Scholarship Program for scholarships for the upcoming year.

In 2018, SECU Foundation established the SECU Bridge to Career Program to help remove financial barriers for students seeking to obtain state-regulated or industry-recognized credentials through the Workforce Continuing Education Division of their local Community College that lead to sustainable wage careers within their local communities.

LCC was awarded the funds for Workforce Continuing Education scholarships to be used for registration fees, books, certification fees, course supplies and other educational expenditures charged to the student’s college account. Scholarships are $500 for each class a student enrolls in within their pathway and they can take up to three classes.

There are three pathways students can choose from: Healthcare, which includes Nurse Aide I and II and Phlebotomy classes; Healthcare Office Administration, which includes Electronic Health Records and Medical Coding classes; and HVAC Academy, which includes HVAC I, II and III classes.

Orientation sessions will be held for prospective students interested in applying for scholarships in these pathways on August 26 at 3 p.m. and August 27 at 6 p.m. Pre-registration is required. Please contact Josephine Wallace-Koonce at 252-527-6223 x138 or jwallace-koonce68@lenoircc.edu to pre-register. Only 10 people per session will be allowed due to social distancing.
