There is probably only one way the violent rioters in Portland are going to stop their war against the city, and that will be when they are confronted by massive force. That actually might be close to happening. It was a welcome surprise to see Portland's Mayor Ted Wheeler, who has for weeks stood idly by while hordes of rioters literally tore the city apart, finally come out with this statement:  "When you commit arson with an accelerant in an attempt to burn down a building that is occupied by people you have intentionally trapped inside, you're not demonstrating, you are attempting to commit murder." 

This was in response to yet another attack on a police station with officers inside. As the rioters set the fire, they BLOCKED the exits so the officers couldn't escape. But even after making his long-delayed anti-rioting statement, Mayor Wheeler still tried to play politics with these horrendous happenings by blaming President Trump for the criminality, even though President Trump has for weeks been urging the Mayor to give the green light to the sending in of federal forces to assist in quelling the violence. 

The President has stated unhesitatingly that he could take action that would end this calamitous situation in a matter of days. Unfortunately, this deadly scenario occurring in Portland has also been going on in other cities, such as Chicago, Baltimore, St. Louis, Seattle, Minneapolis, and others, and it must be stopped. 

Law-abiding citizens are beginning to speak up for freedom and domestic tranquility. For example, when Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti last week authorized the City to arbitrarily shut off water and other utilities to homes and businesses that are hosting "large" gatherings, the response was monumental and public. 

Here are just a small sampling of those responses:  "It's Communism in America." "The Mayor is putting lives at risk, especially families with children." "Yeah, don't worry about the hundreds of people in the streets vandalizing and looting." "Is this N. Korea? No, this is still America." "This ends when enough utility workers and police officers refuse to follow unlawful, unconstitutional orders.  A goon cannot succeed if he has no goon squad."  "Look for the backlash. It's coming."

Now, to close with a little humor. I've said this before, but it bears repeating. Country music icon Minnie Pearl told about entering the Grand Ole Opry tor the Saturday night show. She said she opened the door to the stage entrance and a man came up to her with a gun in his hand. He said, "Give me all your money." Minnie told him she didn't have any money, so the thief began to frisk her up and down and all around, and finally he said, "You haven't got any money, have you?" And Minnie replied, "No, but if you'll do that again I'll write you a check!"
