It's time to "Accentuate the Positive, Eliminate the Negative'" and hopefully we are headed in that direction. I will briefly comment on some recent news on the political front, and then I want to recall the words from some beautiful old hymns about things that REALLY matter.

It was rather disappointing to see some Legislators urging Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to reconvene the Senate in an emergency session with the intent to hold trial over an Impeachment article brought against President Trump in the House. McConnell rejected that effort, thus dashing any hopes Trump's enemies had that he would be convicted in the Republican controlled Senate. Without that emergency session, and with Trump's term coming to an end today, that effort failed.

Now, some are proposing to hold the trial over Trump's impeachment well into the Biden presidency, but Michael Luttig, a former judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals, denounced that idea last week, asserting that impeaching a President after he leaves office, is unconstitutional. Now, Marjorie Greene, the newly elected Republican from Georgia, is planning to introduce Impeachment Articles against Biden. Folks, it is truly time for healing in our Land, and toward that end I want to quote some words of wisdom from some beautiful hymns that were written many years ago but which are as relevant now as they were then:

(1) When peace like a river attendeth my way, when sorrows like sea billows roll, whatever my lot Thou hast taught me to say, It is well, it is well, with my soul;
(2) "Beyond the sunset, no clouds will gather. no storms will threaten, no fears annoy, Oh day of gladness, Oh day unending, beyond the sunset, ETERNAL JOY";
(3) "While I draw this fleeting breath, when my eyes shall close in death, when I rise to worlds unknown, and behold Thee on Thy throne,, Rock of ages cleft for me, let me hide myself in Thee."
(4) When the trumpet of the Lord shall sound, and time shall be no more, and the morning breaks eternal bright and fair, when the saints on earth shall gather over on the other shore, and the roll is called up yonder, I'll be there."
(5) Precious Lord, take my hand, lead me on, let me stand, I am tired, I am weak, I am worn, thru the storm, thru the night, lead me on to the light, take my hand, Precious Lord, lead me home."

We'll close with these beautiful words: "Amazing grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me, I once was lost, but now am found, was blind but now I see."

Now to close on a humorous note: A woman went to the Emergency Room where she was seen by a young new doctor. After about 3 minutes in the Examination Room, the doctor told her she was pregnant. She burst out of the Room and ran down the corridor screaming.

An older doctor stopped her and asked what the problem was. After listening to her story he calmed her down and sat her in another room. Then the doctor marched down the hallway to the first doctor's room.

"What's wrong with you?" he demanded. "That woman is over 80 years old and has two grown children and several grandchildren, and you told her she was PREGNANT?" The new doctor continued to write on his clipboard and, without looking up, said: "Does she still have the hiccups?"
