Updates for COVID vaccine distribution for Greene, Lenoir, and Jones County

Recent reports stated that local hospitals and health departments are canceling thousands of COVID-19 vaccine appointments across the state of NC.

“We are actually not canceling appointments for the COVID vaccine at Greene County Department of Public Health,” said Jennifer Bennett, BSPH the Public Health Educator and Preparedness Coordinator for Greene County.

Greene County Department of Public Health COVID-19 updates will appear on their website at www.greenecountync.gov/health and our Facebook page @greenecountydepartmentofpublichealth.

“Currently, we still have the vaccine on hand and are administering the vaccine to those people (those that are eligible according to the state guidelines for group 1 and group 2) with appointments.”

Lenoir County is not canceling appointments. They are booking appointments for a clinic that will begin later this week and into next week. Lenoir County requests for an appointment can be made by calling 252-526-4202 or 252-526-4200.

"We are not canceling appointments this week because we have the vaccine in-house that we need for our clinic," Lenoir County Health Department Director Pam Brown said.

Jones County stated they are out of the vaccines at this time and they are not scheduling appointments. Their message also stated that the email will be updated when they have vaccines available. When vaccines are available, those wishing to register can call the Jones County Health Department at 252-448-9111, dial 9, then 9 again. They can also email the Health Department at health@jonescountync.gov

North Carolina is said to receive approximately 120,000 first doses each week from the federal government. Supplies are limited and appointments are still necessary for all three counties when the vaccines are available.
