Throughout the month of October and early November, the Greene County Middle School Jr. Beta club hosted a supply drive to help them stuff 100 stockings of soldiers. Working with Paul Funeral Home from Washington, who supplied the stockings and will get them to their destinations, students throughout the Greene County Schools community collected items to help make the holidays a little brighter for our servicemen and women.

The beta club then came together and stuffed 105 stockings. A countless number of socks, gloves, candy, snacks, books, and other items were donated. The GCMS Jr Beta club students were excited to give back to those who give us so much.

Paul’s Funeral Home thanked GCMS for their Donation. An employee with Pauls said “It's great to see students stepping up for our service members.”

The students of GCMS donated more than 1000 items that were stuffed into the stockings. Snow Hill Primary and the Greene Central HOSEA club also donated to the cause.

Mrs. Lisa Wilson, who is a co-sponsor of both the GCHS chapter of HOSEA and the GCMS chapter said “It is such an awesome idea.”

Leftover items were given to Ms. Bradshaw, GCMS social worker to assist with the Angel Tree program at GCMS.

As the students stuffed the stockings, Olivia Heck, who is the current President of the BETA Club said “It was pretty awesome to have that many things that we could give to our troops.”

The Jr. Beta club at the Greene County Middle School holds a community-wide service projects in the Fall and Spring each year, identifying a different need or organization to help.
