Help wanted: Lenoir County Department of Social Services - Social Worker III, Adult Services

SALARY RANGE: $34,477 - $51,181

DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The primary purpose of this position is to assure that the various types of adult care homes operate within the applicable rules, regulations and laws through an ongoing planning and monitoring process. This position will also provide case management services to the disabled and/or aged adults.

KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Considerable knowledge of licensure laws and regulations (state and federal), related NC General Statutes, fire and building codes, social work theory and practice. Considerable knowledge of medical, behavioral, and psychosocial problems and their treatment theory. Considerable knowledge of medical terminology, disease processes and their treatment as they relate to decisions regarding clinical interventions and therapies based on medical or psychological diagnosis. General knowledge of State/County Special Assistance for Adults policy, Adult Protective Services, Guardianship, Adult Placement, Medicaid, and Adult Care Home Case management policies. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrative superiors, co-workers, clients, and the community, social and religious organizations, medical and mental health professionals, home care professionals, adult home professionals, law enforcement and the courts, and disabled or aged individuals. Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely and to plan and execute work effectively.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Master’s degree in social work from an accredited school of social work; Bachelor’s degree in social work from an accredited school of social work and one year of directly related experience; Master’s degree in human services field from an accredited college or university and one year of directly related experience; Bachelor’s degree in human services field from an accredited college or university and two years of directly related experience; Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and three years of directly related experience. If unable to fill at full class, lower class in a work against (trainee, SW I or SW II) may be considered.
