Income Maintenance Caseworker I - (Multiple Vacancies) Salary Range: $25,635 - $39,007

DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The primary purpose of this position is to receive all clients, visitors and other public constituents visiting the agency for all programs and services offered as well as incoming calls to the agency. This position will also perform casework duties including but not limited to taking, completing, and processing FNS recertifications. Must have good telephone etiquette, listening skills and the ability to perform work accurately and quickly while working in a crowded and noisy environment.

KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Considerable knowledge of all programs and services offered by the agency, kept abreast of all changes and the functions of each unit. Also must possess excellent public relations skills, good oral and written communication skills, the ability to express, comprehend, interpret and convey information clearly. Considerable knowledge of office practices and procedures. Ability to resolve problem situations; be resourceful in gathering and giving program information and to answer most inquires and questions independently. Must have good mathematical reasoning and computational skills. Must have good computer skills and a thorough knowledge of Word, Excel, Internet, and E-mail.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from a four year college/university; or, graduation from an accredited associate degree program in Human Services Technology, Social Services Associate, Paralegal Technology, Business Administration, Secretarial Science, or a closely related curriculum; or graduation from high school and two years of paraprofessional, clerical, or other public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, gathering and compiling data, analysis of data and/or performance of mathematical or legal tasks with at least one year of such experience being in an income maintenance program; or graduation from high school and three years of paraprofessional, clerical, or other public contact experience that includes negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, the gathering and compiling of data, the analysis of data and/or the performance of mathematical or legal tasks; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
