Obituary: Randall Williams
Randall Williams, 68, of Kinston, entered Heaven’s gates on Christmas Eve, December 24th, 2021, at his home. Randall was born on September 28th, 1953, to the late Reverend Frank Williams, Jr. and Louise Grady Williams. Throughout his life he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, Christian, and friend. After battling cancer for 13 years, he begins his journey in Heaven, free of doctors’ appointments, chemotherapy, radiation, medication or pain. Throughout it all, Randall lived his motto, “It is what it is”. Those fortunate to know him would agree that he was one of the strongest men ever known.
Randall’s wife of 39 years, Rose Sutton Williams, has been by his side every step of the way since his fight began in 2008. In his final earthly days, Randall was lovingly cared for by Rose, and his son and daughter, Michael and Tonya. As he gloriously entered the arms of Jesus, Rose, his sister-in-law, Angie and his brother-in-law, Marshall, were by his side. Marshall prayed respectfully that God would allow a screw to be loose on the gates of Heaven so that Randall would have something to fix when he arrived, as he loved working and fixing things.
For 40 years, Randall worked at Falling Creek Country Club as the maintenance mechanic. He was often referred to as the “fix anything man”. During his years there, Randall worked for 5 superintendents. He knew the golf course better than anyone. His coworkers and the golf course family are heartbroken by this loss.
Randall was well-known in the community for his lawn mower and golf cart repair business. He was blessed with skilled, steady, and strong hands that afforded him the opportunity to befriend many people in the community. Often if he could not fix their lawn mower right away, he would take his mower to them to use until he fixed theirs.
For 22 years, Randall was a member of Tanglewood Church of God. If the doors were open, he and Rose were there. He served his church and the Lord as an usher, a disciple in The Victor, and led the Victor set construction team.
An avid golfer, he is now playing his best round of golf with his friends that have passed before him. Robert Barwick, Phil Cox, Gene Sutton, and William Kennedy were waiting at Heaven’s golf course with a tee time filled with laughs and high fives. He was also reunited with his dear friend, Tommy Hill. Charlene Peede was excitedly awaiting Randall’s arrival to give him a detailed tour of his heavenly home.
Randall was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Tecorie Green.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Williams. Also, his son, Michael Williams (Shannon) of Kinston and daughter, Tonya Davis of Roxboro. Grandchildren, Michaela Williams and Miken Williams of Kinston, Sierra Davis and Andrew Davis of Roxboro. He has four great-grandchildren. Siblings, Joy Pearce (Larry), Larry Williams (Joy), Garry Williams (Debbie), Lynn Williams (Ernest), and Michael Williams (Summer).
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 29th, 2021 at Pinelawn Memorial Park. He will be escorted to his final resting place by pallbearers, Todd Barwick, Howard Davis, Gary Nowell, Jackie Pate, Roger Shearer, and Wil Sutton. Please come as you are, especially in your golf attire. The family will have a visitation after the service. We request that you wear a mask during visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Tanglewood Church Cancer Support Group, 2103 Rouse Road, Kinston or to Falling Creek Country Club for a memorial at 2359 Falling Creek Road, Kinston.
