White lived in Kinston with her husband Billy White, Sr. In June of 1973, Billy C. White II was taken to the emergency room where he was pronounced dead, believed to have swallowed a piece of plastic. Upon further inspection, a large piece of plastic laundry bag with no torn edges or teeth marks was removed from the child’s throat. The original death certificate stated the death was accidental.

In 1991, White conspired with two men to kill her husband. After White’s arrest for her involvement in the conspiracy to kill her husband, Billy C. White II’s body was exhumed and reexamined. A jury of her peers found White guilty of first degree murder.
