UEC Theatre in Kinston to open on May 21

The UEC Theatre, located at 1176 Hillfarm Road in Kinston announced on Facebook that they will be opening on Friday, May 21, after being forced to close for the pandemic.

“Because of what was going on with Covid and the State mandates we were forced to close our doors for a year,” said General Manager Tristen Carter.

The COVID-19 pandemic mandates from Governor Cooper did allow for movie theaters to open with limited capacity in October 2020, and capacity limits were lifted in May.

“Shortly before all of that we finished remodeling our Auditoriums with electric recliners in some of our Auditoriums,” said Carter. “While some got a chance to see and feel it for themselves, many did not.”

The first four movies that are available for viewing are ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’, ‘Mortal Kombat’, ‘Raya and the Last Dragon’, and ‘Scoob’.

“We are pretty excited that more people can enjoy the recliners because they really take the movie experience to another level,” said Carter.
