The faculty and Parents of Greene Central High School (GCHS) came together Friday to celebrate the 2021 senior class.

The 2021 seniors gathered to play games, win prizes, and enjoy a Chick-Fil-A lunch. This event was made possible by the donations of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Greene County chapter, non-profit All About Purpose inc, and GCHS parents.

Kris Parks of Greene County FCA said, “We have been serving the Greene County schools for several years and are always happy to provide whatever they need.”

Everyone that helped was in agreement that what the seniors needed was to be together and to be celebrated.

Uvonda Willis said the primary motivation for the event was because “A lot of these seniors from last year haven’t had a chance to all be together and we really wanted to celebrate with them.”

Willis went on to say “Whether they’re going to college or entering into the workforce we wanted to donate some items to them so they know how much we appreciate them and to celebrate their efforts in overcoming a pandemic.”

Most Greene Central students have been attending school online this year, like seniors Naomi Denning and Cassidy Turner.

Denning, who will be attending the University of Maryland in the fall, said “We have a senior fun day, so we’ll have different activities, eat good food, win prizes and just have fun with the seniors that we haven’t really been able to connect with since COVID.”

Tuner, who will go to play volleyball at LCC, agreed and noted they were instructed to wear clothes that could get wet.
