Neuse News is excited to announce that Correspondent Kristy Bock has taken the position of Assistant Publisher. The new role will be a smooth transition as she has worked well in bringing local news to our readers over the last two years.

"Kristy continues to prove her love of our community through her journalistic lens," said BJ Murphy, Publisher of Neuse News. "Her desire to be fair, report the facts, and let our readers draw their own conclusions is a big part of the integrity she brings to our organization. She's grown so much in the past two years and I'm expecting even bigger things in her future."

Bock started writing for Neuse News in 2019 as a contributor before joining the in-house team as a part-time employee in 2020, which later turned into a full-time position.

“It’s easy to be a part of the team when they are as supportive and dynamic as I’ve found at Neuse News,” said Bock. “It also helps to get quite comfortable on camera.”

Her writing career has spanned over 10 years with her first book published in 2010. While the news wasn’t her first form of writing, with help from the Internet, she found journalism courses to fill in the gaps.

Bock will continue to create content for Magic Mile Media and Neuse News. She is also a member of the Kinston Smart Artist Program and a member of the Kinston Writing Group. With the help of Magic Mile Media, Bock also has a podcast called Local Hogwash with Deep Run resident Michelle Davis Cash.
