Obituary: Frances Evelyn Decker Cauley

Frances Evelyn Decker Cauley, age 88, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.

She was the daughter of the late Roy Williams and Josephine Bostic Williams. She was a resident of Herritage Elite Senior Retirement Community in Kinston, NC. Frances "Evelyn" was preceded in death by husbands Millard Alvin Decker, Jr. of Beulaville, NC and William Cauley of Jacksonville, NC; brothers Donald Williams, Doug Williams, Elton Williams, and sister Carol Bass. She is survived by a brother, Danny Williams and wife Margaret of Jacksonville; two sons, Philip Decker and wife Teresa of Kinston, and Kim Decker and wife Jeannie of Raleigh; Grandchildren Chris Decker and wife Jessica of Kinston, and Cameron Decker, Aaron Decker and wife Hope, Ryan Decker and wife Abbey, all of Raleigh; Great Grandchildren Taylor, Anna, Riley, Grace and Catherine; Sisters-in-law Ruby Williams, Flora Williams and Peggy Fiorvanti; Aunt Marie Gillenwaters; and many nieces and nephews who loved her very much.

She will be remembered for her sweet and gentle spirit, her radiant smile, her love of shoes, shopping and everything quilting — but most importantly, her love for her family and friends. Frances was a strong and independent woman. She retired from Camp Lejeune as a Plant Account Analyst, the first woman to ever hold that position. Afterwards, she fulfilled her dream of owning and operating a quilt shop,

The Country Collection, for many years. Frances enjoyed sharing her love of fabric and quilting, and gifted each child and grandchild with one of her special quilts. She was a member of Beulaville Presbyterian Church.

Graveside services will be held privately with the Reverend Tom McMahon officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Herritage Elite Senior Retirement Community, 910 North Herritage Street, Kinston, NC 28501.

The family wishes to express our love and gratitude to Mike and Lori Ingalls, special caregivers Tonya, Nikki, Laura, Penney, and family friend Phyllis Williams for their care and concern for our Mother during her stay at Herritage Elite.

Arrangements are entrusted to Community Funeral Home of Beulaville.
